Ein Datenschutzbeauftragter ist aufgrund der Unternehmensgröße nicht gesetzlich vorgeschrieben.
LernSnap wurde mit dem Grundsatz Datensparsamkeit entwickelt. Es gibt kein Konto, keinen Login und keine Werbung. Alle Notizen, Lernpläne und Übungen werden ausschließlich lokal auf Ihrem Gerät gespeichert. Ihr Gerät verlassen nur: die Fotos Ihres Lernstoffs zur KI-Verarbeitung (3.1), eine zufällige Gerätekennung zum Schutz vor Missbrauch (3.2) sowie anonyme Nutzungsereignisse ohne Inhalte (3.5). Wer den KI-Coach nutzt, lädt einmalig eine Modelldatei herunter (3.6).
Wenn Sie die Kamera nutzen, um Lernmaterial zu fotografieren, wird das aufgenommene Bild zur Texterkennung und KI-gestützten Aufgabengenerierung an die Gemini API von Google LLC übertragen. Die Übertragung erfolgt verschlüsselt (TLS) über einen eigenen Cloudflare Worker als API-Proxy.
Damit einzelne Geräte die KI-API nicht überlasten können, erzeugt die App bei der ersten Nutzung eine zufällige Kennung (eine UUID). Diese Kennung wird auf Ihrem Gerät gespeichert und bleibt dort bestehen, bis Sie die App deinstallieren oder ihre Daten löschen. Sie wird bei jeder Anfrage an unseren Cloudflare Worker mitgesendet und dort als Zähler-Schlüssel verwendet – für die KI-Anfragen (3.1) ebenso wie für die Nutzungsereignisse (3.5).
Die Kennung wird zufällig erzeugt. Sie enthält keinen Namen, keine E-Mail-Adresse, keine Werbe-ID und keine Gerätemerkmale und ist von sich aus keiner Person zuzuordnen. Auf dem Server wird sie ausschließlich als Bestandteil eines Tageszählers abgelegt, der nach 24 Stunden automatisch gelöscht wird; in unsere Auswertungsdaten fließt sie nicht ein (siehe 3.5).
Alle von Ihnen erstellten Inhalte (Fächer, Lernpläne, Übungen, Ergebnisse) werden ausschließlich lokal auf Ihrem Gerät in einer SQLite-Datenbank gespeichert. Diese Daten verlassen Ihr Gerät nicht und werden von uns nicht eingesehen.
Der optionale Einmalkauf (Freischaltung der Premium-Version) wird vollständig über Google Play Billing abgewickelt. Wir erhalten dabei keine Zahlungsdaten. Die Datenschutzbestimmungen von Google gelten für diesen Vorgang.
Um zu erkennen, welche Funktionen genutzt werden und wo die App klemmt, meldet LernSnap nach bestimmten Aktionen ein Ereignis an unseren Cloudflare Worker – etwa beim Start eines Scans, beim Abschluss einer Übung oder beim Erstellen eines Lernplans. Übertragen werden ausschließlich die Art des Ereignisses und wenige eingegrenzte Merkmale: Schulfach, Übungstyp, angestrebte Note, Anzahl der Fragen, erreichte Punktzahl in Prozent sowie Dauer- und Anzahlwerte. Beim KI-Coach kommen technische Messwerte hinzu (Geräteklasse, Antwortdauer, Speicherverbrauch, Downloadstatus).
Nicht übertragen werden Inhalte: keine Fotos, keine erkannten Texte, keine Aufgaben, keine Fragen oder Antworten des Coaches und keine Freitexte. Die Kennung aus 3.2 dient beim Empfang nur als Zähler-Schlüssel gegen Überlastung und wird nicht in die Auswertungsdaten geschrieben. In der Auswertung liegen daher unverknüpfte Einzelereignisse; ein Nutzungsprofil eines Geräts lässt sich daraus nicht bilden.
Ausnahme ohne jede Kennung: Der KI-Coach erkennt Nachrichten, die auf eine seelische Notlage hindeuten, und blendet dann Hilfsangebote ein. Dass dieser Schutz ausgelöst hat, wird als reines Zählsignal gemeldet – ohne die Gerätekennung aus 3.2, ohne das auslösende Wort, ohne den Nachrichtentext und ohne jeden weiteren Kontext. Dieses Signal ist damit keinem Gerät zuzuordnen und auch nicht mit den übrigen Ereignissen verknüpfbar. Verbindungsbedingt ist Cloudflare beim Empfang kurzzeitig Ihre IP-Adresse sichtbar; wir speichern sie nicht und führen sie nicht mit dem Signal zusammen.
Der KI-Coach ist derzeit ausschließlich im geschlossenen Testkanal verfügbar und für die übrigen Nutzerinnen und Nutzer nicht sichtbar.
Wenn Sie ihn aktivieren, lädt die App einmalig eine Modelldatei von etwa 2,6 GB von Hugging Face, Inc. (USA) herunter. Dabei wird – wie bei jedem Abruf einer Datei aus dem Internet – Ihre IP-Adresse an Hugging Face übermittelt. Wir übertragen dabei keine Angaben über Sie, Ihr Lernmaterial oder Ihre Nutzung.
Nach dem Download findet die gesamte Verarbeitung auf Ihrem Gerät statt. Ihre Fragen an den Coach, sein Antworttext und der zugrunde liegende Lernstoff verlassen Ihr Gerät nicht und erreichen weder uns noch Dritte. Übertragen werden lediglich die inhaltsfreien Zählsignale aus 3.5.
Wenn Ihnen eine Antwort des KI-Coaches falsch oder unangemessen erscheint, können Sie sie melden. Dabei wird nichts automatisch versendet: Die App öffnet die Teilen-Funktion Ihres Geräts mit einem fertigen Text, den Sie vollständig sehen, und Sie entscheiden selbst, ob und worüber Sie ihn absenden. Der Text enthält die beanstandete Antwort und die Frage, die zu ihr geführt hat – Ihr Lernmaterial wird nicht beigefügt.
Senden Sie die Meldung an uns, geht sie an [email protected]. Unabhängig davon meldet die App an unseren Worker das inhaltsfreie Zählsignal „eine Antwort wurde gemeldet“ (siehe 3.5) – ohne den gemeldeten Text.

LernSnap richtet sich an Schülerinnen und Schüler ab 13 Jahren. Die App erhebt keine personenbezogenen Daten (kein Name, keine E-Mail-Adresse, kein Konto). Wir erheben wissentlich keine Daten von Kindern unter 13 Jahren im Sinne des U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Falls Sie als Elternteil oder Erziehungsberechtigter glauben, dass Ihr Kind unter 13 Jahren die App genutzt hat, kontaktieren Sie uns bitte unter [email protected].
LernSnap enthält keine Werbung, kein Werbe- oder Tracking-Netzwerk, keine Werbe-ID, kein Crash-Reporting-SDK und keinen Analyse-Baukasten eines Drittanbieters. Es werden keine Nutzungsprofile erstellt, nichts wird zu Werbezwecken ausgewertet und nichts wird an Werbetreibende oder Datenhändler weitergegeben.
Was es gibt, sind die in 3.5 beschriebenen anonymen Nutzungsereignisse: inhaltsfreie Zählsignale an unseren eigenen Cloudflare Worker, die nicht zu einem Geräteprofil zusammengeführt werden.

A Data Protection Officer is not legally required given the size of this business.
LernSnap is built on the principle of data minimization. There is no account, no login, and no advertising. All notes, study plans, and exercises are stored exclusively on your device. The only things that leave your device are: photos of your learning material for AI processing (3.1), a random device identifier for abuse prevention (3.2), and anonymous, content-free usage events (3.5). If you enable the AI coach, the app downloads a model file once (3.6).
When you use the camera to photograph learning material, the captured image is transmitted to the Google Gemini API for text recognition and AI-powered exercise generation. Transmission is encrypted (TLS) via a dedicated Cloudflare Worker acting as an API proxy.
So that individual devices cannot overload the AI API, the app generates a random identifier (a UUID) on first use. It is stored on your device and stays there until you uninstall the app or clear its data. It is sent with every request to our Cloudflare Worker, where it serves as a counter key – both for AI requests (3.1) and for usage events (3.5).
The identifier is randomly generated. It contains no name, no email address, no advertising ID and no device characteristics, and by itself cannot be attributed to a person. On the server it is only ever stored as part of a daily counter that is deleted automatically after 24 hours; it does not enter our analytics data (see 3.5).
All content you create (subjects, study plans, exercises, results) is stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database. This data never leaves your device and is never accessed by us.
The optional one-time purchase (unlocking the Premium version) is processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We do not receive any payment data. Google's privacy policy applies to this transaction.
To understand which features are used and where the app struggles, LernSnap reports an event to our Cloudflare Worker after certain actions – for example when a scan starts, an exercise is completed, or a study plan is created. Only the type of event and a few bounded attributes are transmitted: school subject, exercise type, target grade, number of questions, score in percent, and duration or count values. For the AI coach, technical measurements are added (device class, response time, memory usage, download status).
No content is transmitted: no photos, no recognised text, no exercises, no questions or answers from the coach, and no free text. On receipt, the identifier from 3.2 serves only as a counter key against overload and is not written into the analytics data. The analytics store therefore holds unlinked individual events; a usage profile of a device cannot be derived from them.
Exception with no identifier at all: The AI coach detects messages suggesting emotional distress and then shows sources of help. The fact that this safeguard triggered is reported as a bare counting signal – without the device identifier from 3.2, without the triggering word, without the message text, and without any further context. This signal therefore cannot be attributed to a device, nor linked to any other event. As with any connection, Cloudflare briefly sees your IP address on receipt; we do not store it and do not combine it with the signal.
The AI coach is currently available only in the closed testing track and is not visible to other users.
When you enable it, the app downloads a model file of approximately 2.6 GB once from Hugging Face, Inc. (USA). As with any file retrieved from the internet, your IP address is transmitted to Hugging Face in the process. We do not transmit any information about you, your learning material, or your usage.
After the download, all processing happens on your device. Your questions to the coach, its answers, and the underlying learning material never leave your device and reach neither us nor any third party. Only the content-free counting signals described in 3.5 are transmitted.
If an answer from the AI coach seems wrong or inappropriate, you can report it. Nothing is sent automatically: the app opens your device's share function with a prepared text that you see in full, and you decide whether and how to send it. The text contains the answer in question and the question that prompted it – your learning material is not attached.
If you send the report to us, it goes to [email protected]. Independently of this, the app reports the content-free counting signal "an answer was reported" to our Worker (see 3.5) – without the reported text.

LernSnap is intended for students aged 13 and above. The app does not collect personal data (no name, no email address, no account). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 as defined by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has used the app, please contact us at [email protected].
LernSnap contains no advertisements, no advertising or tracking network, no advertising ID, no crash-reporting SDK, and no third-party analytics toolkit. No user profiles are created, nothing is evaluated for advertising purposes, and nothing is passed on to advertisers or data brokers.
What does exist are the anonymous usage events described in 3.5: content-free counting signals sent to our own Cloudflare Worker, which are not combined into a device profile.
